Musketeers face Middle Tennessee tomorrow
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Xavier women's tennis fell to South Alabama on Saturday at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The Musketeers move to 11-8 on the season.
In doubles play, USA took the early advantage, winning on No. 3 over Elizabeth Bagerbaseh and Zoe Manion, 6-3.
Xavier evened doubles play with a win in No. 1 doubles for Lauren Ghidotti and Sophia Abelson, 6-4.
In No. 2 doubles, Rachael Reichenbach and Ahmeir Kyle played a tight battle to claim the doubles point, going to multiple tie breakers before falling, 7-6, to give the Jaguars the double point.
In singles play, South Alabama went ahead 2-0 after winning on the No. 6 court, with Lauren Fitz-Randolph falling 6-2, 6-0.
On the No. 3 court, Ghidotti fell in two sets, 6-1, 6-1, to put USA up 3-0.
The Jaguars picked up the deciding point in No. 5 singles, with Bagerbaseh falling 6-2, 6-4.
The remainder of the matches were called after South Alabama went ahead 4-0.
On the No. 1 court, Kyle was in the third set after taking the first set, 7-5, and falling, 6-1, in the second.
On the No. 2 court, Sophia Abelson was tied up 4-4 in the second set after falling 6-4 in the first.
On the No. 4 court, Reichenbach was down 2-1 in the second set after taking a tightly contested first set, 7-6.
Xavier returns to action tomorrow when the Musketeers face Middle Tennessee at 1:00 p.m. ET at the Adams Tennis Complex in the final non-conference match of the season for the Musketeers.
