• The Musketeers most recently competed at the Ball State Challenge on Saturday, April 14. Xavier posted 14 top-10 finishes at the meet.
• Anna Kostarellis paced the women's team with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:17.20). Classmate Jenna Clayworth posted a time of 4:40.78 in the 1,500-meter run to take third place in the race.
• Nolan Daniels currently ranks eighth in the BIG EAST in the 800-meter run (1:52.57), while Grant Stapleton ranks 14th (1:53.46). On the women's side, Jenna Clayworth ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in the 5,000-meter run (16:57.48), while Anna Kostarellis ranks 14th in the 1,500-meter run (4:33.77).
Â
"Once again, we've taken a small group to California to run against the best in the country in the best conditions possible. All five of our athletes that will be competing are chasing times (NCAA 1st. Round Marks). Leading off the group will be Maddie Britton in the 10k at Mt. SAC. Maddie has a unique opportunity to run with a group of professional women and some of the top collegiate distance runners. Because of the professionals in the heat, we'll have to take a unique approach with Maddie's race plan. She'll be holding on to the back of the group, trying to be as patient as possible and let them drag her around to an NCAA mark. While Maddie is finishing her 10k at Mt. SAC, freshman Jenna Clayworth will be racing the 5k about two hours north at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Jenna's in a great heat with some of the other top freshman in the country. I'm really excited to see how Jenna takes advantage of this opportunity. She's ready for a breakthrough performance I think Thursday will be her night."
Â
"On Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Nolan Daniels and Grant Stapleton will get opportunity in the 800. Nolan is a seasoned veteran at this point and just needs his heat to go out fast through the first 400m to set him up for the final lap. We've been working towards an NCAA mark in the 800 for the past two years and Nolan is ready to reach his goals on Friday. On the other hand, this is Grant's first trip to California and really his first big opportunity on this type of stage. Part of his experience will be learning how to run with the best and the other part will be about maximizing his fitness and not running a tactical race. He too is ready for a breakthrough and I hope it comes on Friday. Finally, freshman Anna Kostarellis will be running the 1500. Although she's a freshman, Anna has had success on the national level in this event while in high school. It's taken a little while for us to get her race sharp after red shirting indoor track but I believe she's ready to go and should be able to dip under 4:30 on Friday."

• Xavier returns to action at the RedHawk Invitational on Saturday, April 28.Â
