LOS ANGELESÂ - Xavier track and field wrapped up action in California on Friday night. The Musketeers competed in the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 19-20.

Â
3. Jenna Clayworth - 5,000-meter run (16:40.25)
4th fastest time in the BIG EAST this season... her time unofficially ranks 11th nationally among freshmen... her time was 0.25 seconds off the U20 World Standard

"I was really happy with how our first two races went yesterday. Both Maddie and Jenna accomplished exactly what we set out for them. For Maddie, this 10k has been two years in the making since getting to the 1st round of NCAA's as a sophomore but having mono last year and not making it back. She's worked so hard since cross country to get herself back to NCAA's in the 10k and it paid off last night. I'm very confident her time of 34:28 will hold up and get her to Tampa for the semifinal."
Â
"For Jenna, last night was a huge breakthrough. Her previous races this year during cross country and indoor marked her as the top freshman in program history but her performance last night put her on a new level. We knew that under the right conditions she'd be able to go 16:40 and put herself up there with the best freshman in the country and she did just that. I can't wait to see what she can do in three weeks at the BIG EAST Championship. I don't think it's out of the question for her to improve on her time from last night and make it to NCAA's with Maddie."
"In the men's 800 I thought both Daniels and Stapleton ran well. They did everything right and executed their race plans but the end result was a little under what I was expecting. It was a season best for Daniels and a PR for Stapleton so they're moving the right direction."
Â
"In the women's 1500 Kostarellis got out well during the first 400 but then the entire pack hit the brakes and ran five seconds slower during the second 400. Kostarelllis was able to move back up and push the pace during the third lap, coming in around 73 seconds. With 300m to go she looked great and I was expecting her to close well but something just didn't click and she faded over the final 200. Her time of 4:34 is consistent with what she's been running but I know she's capable of a lot more."
