Two in Top Five for Women's Golf After Day Two at BIG EAST Championships

Freshman Andie Shukow jumps nine spots with solid second round performance
CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Women's golf finished the second round of the BIG EAST Championship on Saturday afternoon, improving by four strokes as a team and finishing in third with one round to go. Two Musketeers, Mikayla Smith and Andie Shukow, jumped into ties for fifth on the leaderboard after 36 holes.
Smith jumped spot one spot from day one and leads the competition with a total of 27 pars. Smith is also tied for second in the field with an even scoring average on par 3's.
Shukow had an impressive round, jumping nine spots on the leaderboard with a 2-over 74 for the day. The freshman was on fire on the front, carding eight pars and a birdie to come into the clubhouse at 1-under. For the tournament, Shukow is 10-over and six strokes off the lead going into the final round.
Mikayla Fitzpatrick finished day two in a tie for 11th place, shooting 11-over for the day. Fitzpatrick entered the clubhouse with a 75, 83 (158, +14) card. The sophomore is tied for second in the field on par 5's with an average score of 4.88 (-1).
Morgan Tinsley finished the second round with a pair of 40's and a birdie on the par 3 No. 5 hole. She ended the day tied for 18th with an 81, 80 (161, +17) finish.
Grace Howie ended the second round in 25th place, shaving seven strokes off her first round performance with a 6-over round.
