Seeding for Men’s and Women’s Tennis BIG EAST Championships Announced

NEW YORK - The seeds and schedule have been set for the 2018 BIG EAST Men's and Women's Tennis Championships Presented by Jeep, which will be played Thursday, April 26 through Sunday, April 29 at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C.

Seeds are determined by the conference's tennis championship and coaches' seeding advisory committees that review each team's regular-season schedule, ITA rankings, results against BIG EAST and common non-conference opponents and wins/losses against ranked foes.

Xavier's women earned the No. 4 seed, of 10 teams, and a bye for the first day of action. The Musketeer women will open up play on Friday, earning a bye for first round action occurring Thursday. Xavier will play No. 5 seed Seton Hall at 12:30 p.m. in quarterfinal action, following three quarterfinal match-ups set to play at 9:00 a.m.

Semifinal action continues on Saturday at 9 a.m. The Championship match will be played on Sunday also at 9 a.m.

Xavier's men earned the No. 7 seed out of eight squads and will open up play against the No. 2 seed St. John's in quarterfinal action on Friday at 12:30 p.m.

The men's semifinals are set for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The semifinal winners will clash on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. for a chance at the 2018 league title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Championships.

For the second straight year DePaul earned the No. 1 seed on the men's side, while St. John's was named the top women's seed.
