Rylan Bannon Named California League All-Star

CINCINNATI - Xavier baseball alum Rylan Bannon was named to the California League All-Star Team on Tuesday after a standout first half for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the advanced A ball team in the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system.
Bannon has played in 61 games this season, totaling 15 homers and 39 RBI while hitting .288 with a .390 on-base percentage in 226 at-bats.
His minor league career numbers are impressive as the second year pro has slashed .307/.404/.581 with 25 homers and 69 RBI in 101 games.
An eighth round draft pick in the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft, Bannon is listed as the No. 29 prospect in the Dodgers system by MLB Pipeline. He was promoted to advanced A ball after less than one year in the Dodgers organization.
Bannon spent an abbreviated first season with the Ogden Raptors in rookie ball following the 2017 draft.
The 2017 BIG EAST Player of the Year, Bannon hit .563 (9-for-16) in four games at last year's NCAA Tournament Louisville Regional and hit .455 for his NCAA Tournament career.
He finished the 2017 season with a .339 batting average, 15 homers and 50 RBI. He led the BIG EAST with a .633 slugging percentage and his 15 homers were tied for third-most in a single season by a Xavier player.
• Lefty pitcher Zac Lowther was the highest-ever selection by a Xavier baseball player in last year's draft, going in the second round compensatory selections at 74th overall. XU's previous high pick was Seth Willoughby, who was drafted in the fourth round in 2012 by the Colorado Rockies.
