CINCINNATI - Chris Givin was named to the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Mideast All-Region Second Team on Wednesday, earning the honor after leading Xavier with a .342 batting average last season.
Teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division I All-America Committee.
The junior from Castle Rock, Colo. played in 52 games and led XU in hits (75), triples (6), total bases (112) and RBI (45).
His six triples ranked 15th in the nation and led the BIG EAST. Givin's hit total was second in the league.
Givin was also rock solid defensively, making just two errors in 191 chances for a .990 fielding percentage.
Xavier finished the season 20-35 overall and 7-11 in league play, missing the postseason for just the second time since 2014. XU has won the BIG EAST in three of its five years in the league, including back-to-back titles in 2016 and 2017.
XU has had a player recognized on the all-region team for a second straight year after Rylan Bannon and Zac Lowther both earned the award in 2017. Givin is the fourth Musketeer all-time to earn second team honors.
