Seven Musketeers Named 2018 ITA Scholar-Athletes

Women’s Tennis Also Name ITA All-Academic Team
CINCINNATI – Xavier men's and women's tennis had seven student athletes earn ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2017-18 season, announced by Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday. Additionally, women's tennis was awarded the ITA All-Academic Team award for the squads cumulative GPA for the last academic year.
On the women's side, four Musketeers earned the honor. Senior Lauren Ghidotti, junior Sophia Abelson, sophomore Rachael Reichenbach and freshman Kaitlin Ruether each earned the honor.
For the Xavier men, three Musketeers were honored. Senior Gabriel Araujo, junior Jack Dykema and sophomore Matthew Graft each earned the award.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50, on a 4.00 scale, for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
The women's tennis team also posted a cumulative GPA of 3.26 for the 2017-18 academic year to earn the honor of All-Academic Team. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above, on a 4.00 scale. All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year, including fall 2017 and spring 2018.
In all, 735 teams and 4,328 student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis were honored.
