BLOG: Ashley Gomez and USA Team Start 2-0 at FISU America Games

We are currently 2-0 in the FISU America Games. We played Mexico on Tuesday and won, 87-56. On Wednesday, we played Uruguay and won, 116-33.
After each game we got to share bracelets with our opponents and pray with them which was so awesome. We explain to them that as much as we love basketball, we love to glorify God through our sport more.
The team is so fun to play with. We were unsure how it was going to go, having had only five practices, but we all play so well together and are completely unselfish with the ball. It is so cool that we are able to play at such a high level without even knowing each other.

We have an off day tomorrow (Thursday) from games, so we are flying out bright and early to Rio De Janeiro to see the Christ the Redeemer Statue and to explore the city.
Our next game is against Chile at 2:45 EST on Friday, July 27. Be sure to tune into the next two games that we have! If we win these next two we will be bringing home the gold medal!
