Women place eighth, men ninth on Friday morning

CARY, N.C. - Xavier cross country competed at the BIG EAST Championships on Friday morning at WakeMed Soccer Park Field. The women placed eighth overall, while the men took ninth.

Georgetown won the women's race, the program's first title since 2014. Butler won the men's race, claiming the program's first BIG EAST title.

Villanova sophomore Haftu Strintzos won the men's 8K race in a time of 23:05.20. Georgetown junior Sami Corman captured the women's 6K race with a time of 20:27.00.
