“They deny a lot and there’s a lot of driving lanes so there are not many opportunities to get assists because of their style of play. Richmond really did a good job, played hard and they are going to be a force in the post season, whatever opportunity they get.”
What is it about this Richmond team, how they battle back in the second half
“They’ve got an outstanding team, they are well coached and they played hard today. They are good. I knew this would be a challenging game for us and I’m just happy our players played as well as we did down the stretch.

“Yeah, I am glad it’s over. Being out last year was tough but I had to come back and get stronger and play the best I can.”
What was said in the huddle after Richmond cut the lead?
“They made a little run so we were like let’s get together, go out and play our game and try to extend the lead back out to what it was.”

On leading the team in points in the first half
“I think most teams in the tournament are going to play us tough on the inside, double-team the inside. I think that was what they were trying to do, they were trying to use the screens to their advantage, making us go the way they wanted us to go. With my quickness and ball handling, I was going the way I wanted to go which made it hard for them. I tried to do what I could to put the ball in the hole or to get my teammates open.”
How much did you use your game earlier in the year vs. Richmond to prepare for this game?
“We take each game as it comes. Every team in the tournament is going to play their hardest. It’s do or die. Everybody is going to come out and play 100%. People that don’t play well against other teams, play well against Xavier. We have to focus on us play hard for 40 minutes because we know people are going to give us their best shot. We always have to be on our toes and be ready.”
