Bluiett’s Career Night Leads No. 12 Musketeers Over Raiders

Four Musketeers hit double figures as Xavier hits 90-point mark for third straight game
CINCINNATI – Trevon Bluiett topped his career high in scoring as No. 12 Xavier ran away from Wright State on Tuesday evening at Cintas Center. The Musketeers downed the Raiders, 90-55, to move to 9-0 on the season, Xavier's best start under head coach Chris Mack.
Bluiett finished with 22 points, besting his previous career mark of 21 set at DePaul on Jan. 24, 2015 and matched earlier this season against Western Kentucky. Bluiett finished 7-of-12 from the floor, including shooting 62.5 percent on threes. Bluiett has hit double figures in each of Xavier's nine games, the first Musketeers since Tu Holloway hit double figures in the first 12 games of 2010-11 season. He also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
Bluiett led four Musketeers in double digits as Xavier hit the 90-point mark for the third straight game. Myles Davis finished with 13, including hitting 50 percent from beyond the arc. J.P. Macura scored 12 and Jalen Reynolds added 10 for the Musketeers.
Xavier used a 25-0 run midway through the first half to take control of the game, building a 27-point lead, 33-6, with 5:45 left in the first half.
The Musketeers clamped down on defense in the first half, holding Wright State to 3-of-19 from the floor to start the game as Xavier built the lead out to as many as 31, 49-18, before the break. The Raiders, who came into the game averaging over 40 percent from beyond the arc, finished the first half just 2-of-14 from three.
Xavier built its lead with balanced offense, with eight Musketeers entering the scoring column in the first half. Trevon Bluiett and J.P. Macura led the way with 10 points each as Xavier took a 49-21 lead into halftime. Wright State's 21 points matches Alabama's 21-point second half for the lowest point total in a half for a Xavier opponent this season.
Xavier also owned an advantage on the boards, out-rebounding WSU 35-18 in the first half, including grabbing 15 offensive boards to just five for the Raiders. Bluiett and Farr each grabbed eight first half boards to lead the way for the Musketeers.
The Musketeers opened the second half with an 11-2 run, featuring five points from Reynolds and a pair of threes from Bluiett to take a 37-point lead less than three minutes into the second half.
Xavier led by as many as 43, 88-45, with just over five minutes remaining in the second half, before an 10-2 run for WSU in the final three minutes brought the final score to 90-55.
The Musketeers finished with 20 assists on 26 made field goals. Remy Abell finished with a team-high four assists, and Macura and Edmond Sumner added three each. Ten different Musketeers finished in the scoring column.
Xavier grabbed 54 boards to just 31 for Wright State, including owning an 18-6 advantage on the offensive glass. In addition to Bluiett's 11, James Farr also hit double digits for rebounds, grabbing 10 boards.
The Musketeers return to action on Saturday Dec. 12, when the Musketeers host Cincinnati for the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
