Farr's Career Game Helps Musketeers Overtake Pirates

Senior forward finishes with career-high 24 points
CINCINNATI – Senior James Farr used a career high scoring effort to help the No. 5/6 Xavier Musketeers take down the Seton Hall Pirates, 84-76, at Cintas Center on Saturday. Farr led three Musketeers in double figures as Xavier moved to 17-2 overall and 5-2 in BIG EAST play.
Farr finished with a game-high 24 points, topping his previous career high of 18 set earlier this season against Western Kentucky (12/5/15). Farr also grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and sixth in his career. Farr dished out a career-high four assists and blocked three shots.
Trevon Bluiett finished with 15 points after being held scoreless in the first half. Edmond Sumner added 13 for the Musketeers and Sean O'Mara added nine, one off his career high, on 4-of-4 shooting from the floor.
Seton Hall took a five-point lead early, leading 9-4 with four minutes gone from the game. James Farr provided a spark off the bench, scoring four points and grabbing three rebounds in three minutes to help the Musketeers put together a 6-0 run, taking the lead 10-9.
The Pirates retook the lead midway through the first half, leading 16-14 with 10 minutes remaining until the half when four straight points for Sean O'Mara put the Musketeers back ahead.
Xavier extended its lead to as many as six in the first half, taking a 28-22 lead into the final six minutes of the half before the Pirates put together a 10-3 run to retake the lead in the final three minutes of the half.
The Pirates and Musketeers traded the lead until Xavier put together a 7-2 run, closing the half with an Edmond Sumner dunk that put the Musketeers up 40-36 at the break.
Farr led the Musketeers with 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Davis added eight points for Xavier.
Seton Hall owned a 26-24 advantage on the boards in the first half.
The Musketeers continued their first-half-closing run to begin the second, extending the lead to nine, 46-36, less than a minute into the half.
After the Musketeers took their largest lead of the game to that point, SHU's Isaiah Whitehead and Desi Rodriguez each put up five points in less than four minutes to key a run for the Pirates that cut the Xavier advantage to one, 50-49, with just under 16 minutes to play.
The Musketeers looked inside to re-take control of the game, getting four points each from Farr, O'Mara and Trevon Bluiett over the next five minutes to push the lead out to 10, 64-54, with 11 minutes to play.
Xavier pushed its lead out to as many as 15, maintaining a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game until a SHU dunk at the buzzer set the final score at 84-76.
The Musketeers finished with a 46-42 advantage on the boards after outrebounding the Pirates 22-16 in the second half.
SHU's Rodriguez finished with a career-high 21 points to lead the Pirates.
The Musketeers return to the road for their next game, traveling to Providence, R.I. to take on the Providence Friars on Tuesday, Jan. 26. The game with Providence is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on FOX Sports 1.
