Villanova-Xavier Sets FS1 College Hoops Viewership Record

LOS ANGELES – Wednesday night's men's basketball game between No. 1 Villanova and No. 5 Xavier was a big win for Xavier – on the court and in the digital space – in addition to being a record-setting night for FS1. XU knocked off visiting Villanova 90-83 before a record crowd at Cintas Center (10,727) and record viewership on the FS1 national broadcast.
In the first top-five college basketball matchup on FS1 – and the first for the BIG EAST in its current alignment – the network came away with a record 538,000 viewers, as well as a 5.8 rating in Cincinnati and a nine share.
It was the most-watched telecast of a BIG EAST Conference game this season and the most-watched college game on FS1 to date.
The game featured play-by-play and analysis from FS1's lead college hoops broadcasters Gus Johnson and Bill Raftery and on-site studio coverage from Kevin Burkhardt and Steve Lavin.
On GoXavier.com, traffic spiked to 59,661 page hits on Feb. 24, setting a new high for page views/sessions since the beginning of the 2015-16 season. Over the Feb. 24-25 time span, GoXavier.com recorded nearly 100,000 pageviews.
XU's social media accounts also saw incredible spikes in traffic. The Musketeers' official Facebook page recorded a reach of 591,877 over the Feb. 24-25 time span, while @XavierGameday saw 480,532 organic impressions on Feb. 24. As a featured story on Snapchat, the XU-Nova game garnered 1.3M impressions overall.
