CINCINNATI – Xavier head volleyball coach Christy Pfeffenberger has announced the hiring of Amber Miehlke as an assistant volleyball coach. Miehlke joins the Musketeers after a one-year stint at Appalachian State.
"I'm thrilled that Amber has joined our volleyball staff," said Pfeffenberger. "Her passion for the game shows in her coaching. She is a great fit for our staff and our program.
"Amber has a bright future ahead of her. She is an example of hard work and commitment paying off."
During the 2015 season at Appalachian State, Miehlke helped the Mountaineers post a 22-8 overall record with a 13-3 mark in Sun Belt action. The team matched a program record with 16 consecutive wins during the season. Miehlke also helped coach four athletes to AVCA Southeast All-Region honors.
"I am really excited to start working with Xavier volleyball and to be a member of the athletic department - the atmosphere here is awesome," said Miehlke. "I look forward to not only sharing my background as a coach with the program, but to also build on to my experiences alongside some wonderful people at a great university. "
Prior to Appalachian State, Miehlke was a volunteer assistant coach at Oakland University (2014). The squad posted a 22-10 overall record – the school's first 20-win season during Division I competition – while helping the team post a 12-2 record in conference play. The Golden Grizzlies also captured the Horizon League Regular-Season and Tournament Titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Miehlke was a four-year letterwinner at Oakland (2010-13), helping the squad record 68 wins during her playing career. She played in 200 sets during her career and earned all-conference academic honors twice.
The Lake Zurich, Ill., native earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Oakland in 2013.
She resides in Cincinnati with her husband, Mitch Hildebrandt, who is a goalkeeper on FC Cincinnati.
