Mack Family Foundation Hosted Kickoff Event

Children are the focus of the organization
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Xavier head men's basketball coach Chris Mack and his wife, Christi, hosted a kickoff event for the Mack Family Foundation on Thursday, August 25. Leaders from the political, media, sports and business communities gathered at the Mack Residence to begin to build recognition for the family-fueled non-profit organization.
"Christi and I have chosen to create a family-centered foundation whose mission is to serve, inspire and help less fortunate children in our community," said Mack. "The platform I'm blessed to have as Xavier University's head basketball coach will allow my family and me to do meaningful work in the Tri-State region."
The Mack Family Foundation has two core objectives in its infancy. First, MFF will identify smaller charities, foundations and causes to help support that are centered on children. While larger charities do great work, the aim is to be in the trenches, see change up close and give financial support that will help underfunded organizations.
"There are some incredible organizations that do very meaningful work in our region and around the country. They have operating budgets and serve large numbers of people in and around our community," said Mack. "But we want to help the individuals, causes and charities that don't have as much. The Mack Family Foundation is committed to finding those charities in the Tri-State and helping them."
Secondly, the Mack Family Foundation wants their children and the children of its supporters to help volunteer at their own events, learn about the charities/causes they serve and to understand truly what it means to give back to those in need.
"My parents raised me to help others. Xavier University's mission is rooted in service for others. My high school's motto was 'Men for Others,'" said Mack. I want my children to begin to understand and live that very message. They will be involved in every aspect of our Foundation. I encourage our volunteers, donors and supporters to involve their children with the Mack Family Foundation as well."
The Mack Family Foundation will be holding its inaugural "Kids Mack-A-Thon Challenge" on Sunday, October 9 at 12:00 p.m. on the campus of Xavier University (Intramural Fields next to tennis courts). Kids aged 6-12 will try their luck on a challenging obstacle course in appropriate age divisions. There will be a live DJ, concessions, bouncy houses and jumpies for tots as part of the family festivities. Xavier men's basketball players will be on hand to give autographs, take pictures and serve as volunteers for the Kids Mack-a-thon Challenge.
