Trevon Bluiett Named First Team All-BIG EAST Conference For A Third Straight Year

Xavier had another player honored unanimously by the BIG EAST coaches. Â Naji Marshall was a unanimous selection by the league coaches to the BIG EAST Conference All-Freshman Team.
Bluiett leads the team and is sixth in the BIG EAST in scoring at 19.4 ppg., and also leads the team in rebounding at 5.6 rpg., which ranks 15th in the BIG EAST. Bluiett, who is third in the BIG EAST in 3-point field goals per game at 3.1, has broken the Xavier career 3-point field goals record with 310 and counting.

Bluiett, who has scored 20 or more points in 18 games this season, has moved up to second place on XU's all-time scoring list with 2,187 points. Bluiett has scored 1,094 career points in BIG EAST regular season play, one of only 42 players that have reached 1,000 career BIG EAST points in league history.

In BIG EAST history, only 12 other players have earned First Team All-BIG EAST honors three times. Only two players have done it in the last 20 years, Luke Harangody of Notre Dame (2008-10) and Troy Bell of Boston College (2001-03). The other players that have made BIG EAST First Team three times are Danya Abrams (Boston College, 1995-97), Kerry Kittles (Villanova, 1994-96), Lawrence Moten (Syracuse, 1993-95), Terry Dehere (Seton Hall, 1991-93), Derrick Coleman (Syracuse, 1988-90), Sherman Douglas (Syracuse, 1987-89), Dwayne Washington (Syracuse, 1984-86), Chris Mullin (St. John's, 1983-85), Patrick Ewing (Georgetown, 1983-85) and John Pinone (Villanova, 1981-83).

Bluiett, one of 10 national semifinalists for the 50th Citizen Naismith Trophy for Men's College Player of the Year and the Julius Erving Award, has been selected for the 15-person national ballot for the John R. Wooden Award. He's also on the watch list for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, United States Basketball Writers Association national player of the year award and the Lute Olson Award, CollegeInsider.com's national player of the year award.
No. 3 Xavier, 27-4, won the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship with a 15-3 record. The Musketeers are the No. 1 seed in this week's BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden. XU plays its first game on Thursday at noon against the winner of the Georgetown/St. John's game on Wednesday.
