Britton Qualifies for NCAA Track and Field East Regional

The senior runner will participate in the 10,000-meter run
CINCINNATIÂ - Senior Madeline Britton has qualified for the NCAA Track and Field East Regional in the 10,000-meter run as announced by the NCAA on Thursday. The meet is being hosted by South Florida on May 24-26 in Tampa, Fla.

The Bay Village, Ohio, native will participate in the national semifinals for the 10,000-meter run on Thursday at 9:40 p.m. at the USF Track and Field Stadium. The event serves as one of two national semifinals (east and west regionals) as there is no preliminary race for the 10,000-meter run.

Britton currently ranks 31st in the east region and 77th nationally in the event, posting a time of 34:28.34 at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 19. The top-12 participates in the race from the two regionals will advance to the NCAA National Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 6-9.

Britton will be competing in the NCAA East Regional for the second time in her career as she also competed in the 10,000-meter run at the event in 2016. The two-time All-BIG EAST selection also competed at the NCAA Cross Country Championships last fall.

Britton most recently competed at the BIG EAST Track and Field Championships on May 11-12 in Geneva, Ohio. She placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 16:38.96, a new personal-best time.
