Edmond Sumner Named Wayman Tisdale National Freshman Of The Week

CINCINNATI – Xavier guard Edmond Sumner is the Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Week for games ending the week of Dec. 27. Jones was selected by CBSSports.com's Matt Norlander, in partnership with the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

Norlander writes of the Detroit, Mich., product: "Sumner beat out Brandon Ingram and Henry Ellenson this week because his team mounted a furious and impressive comeback performance, on the road, against a better opponent than the other two guys played.

Sumner put up a career-best 21 points, nine rebounds and a pair of assists and steals in Xavier's 78-70 win at Wake Forest last Tuesday.
