Macura has scored in double figures in seven of his last 11 games
NEW YORK - Xavier University sophomore J.P. Macura has been voted as the BIG EAST Conference Sixth Man Award winner by a vote of the league's head coaches.

Macura has averaged 11.4 ppg. over the last 11 games on 48.8 percent (42-of-86) shooting from the field, including 38.5 percent (15-of-39) from 3-point territory. Macura, who has raised his scoring average to 9.5 ppg., has scored in double figures in seven of the last 11 games and 14 games for the season. He scored a team-high tying 19 points to go with three steals in the win over No. 1 Villanova on Feb. 24.

For the second year in a row, Providence guard Kris Dunn has earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. The league also announced that Dunn's teammate, forward Ben Bentil, has been named BIG EAST Most Improved Player. Kellen Dunham of Butler has been selected for the BIG EAST Sportsmanship Award. The coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.

The BIG EAST will announce Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete at a press conference at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, March 9, at 4:30 p.m. ET
