Jodi Thelan Fahey's accomplishments as a Xavier student-athlete reveal a story of determination and achievement. She continued her association with XU when she took over the coaching reigns of the volleyball team.
Success began early as she earned First Team All-North Star Conference honors as a freshman setter in 1983, leading the Musketeers to a 28-12 record. The following year, Jodi was again named to the All-Conference First Team and was both the NSC's Regular Season and Tournament Most Valuable Player.
After giving birth to her son, Drew, she returned to the team in 1986 (Xavier's first season in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference). Again she won First Team All-Conference honors as Xavier compiled a 4-2 record among MCC competition.
Two years later, she became the seventh coach in XU volleyball history. She took over the responsibility of coaching the Musketeers during a transitional period in the XU athletic program while continuing work on her undergraduate degree. Jodi provided stablility and leadership, while laying the groundwork for future success of Xavier volleyball.
Since leaving her coaching position, Jodi has continued to promote excellence in athletics through her love of sport. She has coached at St. Agnes grade school and currently coaches the girls volleyball team at Holy Cross High School. Her enthusiasm for the sport and dedication to the lives of young girls serves as an excellent role model to many.
She was nominted by Rosemary Fahay and the nomination was endorsed by former Director of Athletics Jeff Fogelson.
