For the first time ever, NCAA student-athletes are permitted to be compensated for use of their name, image and likeness. This means that student-athletes may receive compensation for commercial endorsements, personal appearances, autographs, camps/clinics/lessons, and a variety of other business opportunities, provided the NIL activity is consistent with state law. The Ohio Executive Order is very clear that NIL compensation can NOT be used as a “pay-for-play” inducement, or as an incentive for a student to attend Xavier University. Xavier is committed to ensuring that our student-athletes receive first-rate education and resources to maximize their NIL potential.
