Carol Madsen, two-time MCC Player-of-the-Year and 1993 MCC Tournament MVP, deserves a spot among the best players in Xavier history.

Madsen transferred to Xavier after playing her freshman year at Purdue. Upon arriving at XU, Madsen began her assault on the Midwestern Collegiate Conference and the XU record book. Madsen possessed a complete array of skills on the court. Upon graduating, she held eight school records, including most points in a game (46 vs. La Salle, 1994) and most assists in a season (212, 1993-94) and a career (518). Madsen was one of the best three-point shooters ever to play for Xavier and held the records for the most three-point goals made in a game, season and career when she graduated. She also grabbed plenty of rebounds (527) to rank her number nine on the all-time rebounding chart at the time. Madsen rounded out her career by ranking as the seventh-most prolific scorer on XU's all-time scoring chart with 1,702 career points.

With her impressive numbers on the court, Madsen received plenty of attention for her efforts. Madsen was a three-time All-MCC First Team selection and was twice named MCC Player-of-the-Year (1992 and 1994). During the 1993 postseason tournament, she was selected MCC Tournament MVP after scoring a record 70 points in three games, leading Xavier to a MCC Championship and its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Madsen was also recognized for her outstanding performance in the classroom. She was named a Third Team GTE/CoSida Academic All-American selection her senior year. Madsen was also a four-time member of the MCC Academic Honor Roll.
