Jamie Gladden, a member of the 1,000 Point Club who currently ranks ninth in all-time scoring with 1,780 points, helped Xavier reach new heights during his four years. Gladden's consistent performance helped him earn numerous awards during his time at XU. Gladden was named an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American following the 1992-93 season. He was a three-time All-Midwestern Collegiate Conference First Team selection (1991, 1992, 1993) and also earned MVP honors during the 1991 MCC Tournament. In 1992 and 1993, Gladden's play caught the attention of Basketball Weekly and Basketball Times as each publication named him All-Midwest.
Gladden, two-time tri-captain, was a vital contributor to XU's success during his career. The Musketeers compiled an 89-32 (73.6%) record while Gladden was an XU starter. As former Xavier head coach Pete Gillen said, "He hates to lose more than anyone on our team." Gladden reached the NCAA Tournament three of his four years (1990, 1991, 1993) at XU, including a "Sweet Sixteen" appearance in 1990. He averaged 13.0 ppg. during NCAA Tournament games.
Gladden led XU in scoring as a sophomore and a junior and finished second as a senior. He posted double figures in scoring 21 times during his career and ranked second in the MCC in three-point field goal percentage at 43.5 percent (154-354) his senior year.
