Lenny Brown, who lettered four years in basketball, is a member of the Xavier 1,000 point club.
Brown's freshman season was 1995-96, Xavier's first year in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Brown led a young Xavier group to an 8-8 A-10 record in his freshman season but the best was yet to come. Brown led XU to a combined 70-25 record over his final three seasons, including a 36-12 A-10 regular season record that earned XU its first-ever A-10 regular season titles in 1997 and 1998 and its first-ever A-10 tournament title in 1998.
Brown was known as a tough competitor and winner, the guy you wanted to have the ball to attempt a game-winning shot. It was his jumper at the buzzer that gave XU an upset win over then No. 1 Cincinnati at UC's Shoemaker Center in the 1996-97 season.
Brown earned plenty of accolades for his standout play, including two times on the A-10 First Team, once on the A-10 Second Team and once on the A-10 All-Rookie Team. In addition, he made the final John R. Wooden Award All-America nominee list and earned a spot on the 1999 All-National Invitation Tournament Team.
Brown, who stands sixth on Xavier's all-time scoring list with 1,885 career points, led Xavier to the second round of the 1997 NCAA Tournament and a berth in the 1998 NCAA Tournament. XU finished third in the 1999 NIT.
