Nick Hagglund enjoyed the most decorated career in Xavier soccer history. Hagglund, who earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Second Team honors and College Soccer News All-America Third Team honors in 2012, was named First Team All-Conference three times. He also holds the distinction of being the highest drafted XU player ever in the MLS SuperDraft. Hagglund, who earned conference defensive player of the year honors in the Atlantic 10 in 2012 and the BIG EAST in 2013, was a part of 31 shutouts as the leader of the Musketeer defense over his four years in the program. He led Xavier to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2012. XU picked up its first-ever NCAA Tournament win in 2012
with a victory at Kentucky. After his freshman season, Hagglund was named to both the 2010 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team and the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship All-Tournament Team. The following season, he earned a spot on the NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic First Team. Hagglund, a preseason All-America first team selection and on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List prior to his junior and senior seasons, earned a spot at the end of his junior year on the 2012 College Soccer News All-America Third Team and the 2012 NSCAA All-America Second Team. The NSCAA honors set him apart as the first Musketeer player to ever earn the honor. He earned the 2013 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year award in XU's first BIG EAST season as well as a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team and the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team. Hagglund, who was the 10th overall pick by Toronto FC in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, won an MLS Cup with Toronto FC in 2017. He was acquired by FC Cincinnati in a trade in January of 2019, joining FCC for its first season as an expansion franchise in the MLS.
