Bob Konkoly, a hard-hitting halfback, played a major role in Xavier's carries (4.4 yards per carry average), also was a force on special teams and on defense. Konkoly recovered a pair of fumbles on defense. On special teams, he hit 10-11 extra points and 2-2 field goals for 22 points while kicking 14 punts for 512 yards and a 36.5 yard average.

After three years of football and graduation, Konkoly later became a teacher and coach at Cincinnati's Purcell (now Purcell Marian) High School.
