Sara Bachus was a dominating outside hitter who led the Musketeers to an impressive 90-32 (.738) overall record and a 55-16 (.775) mark in the Atlantic 10 from 1998-2001. With those marks, she also helped her class claim the best overall and Atlantic 10 winning percentage by a class in program history.
During her four seasons, XU made four-straight appearances in the A-10 Championship and earned the school's first ever A-10 regular season title in 1998 and the first ever A-10 championship title in 2001, which gave Xavier its first trip to the NCAA Tournament.
A former local prep star at Cincinnati's Seton High School, Bachus was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in back to back seasons (2000 and 2001) and earned First Team All-Conference Honors in 1999. She was selected as the 2001 Atlantic 10 Championship Most Outstanding Player and was named to the 2000 A-10 Championship All-Tournament Team. In addition, she earned a spot on the AVCA All-Region Team as a junior and a senior.
She ended her career atop many categories in the Xavier volleyball record book, including a then school-record .338 hitting percentage over her four seasons.
