Sr. Rose Anne Fleming earned a national reputation for herself and the University due to her success as the school's academic advisor for student-athletes. Xavier University has consistently been among the top two among 13 Division I schools in Ohio and in the "Top 25" nationally in the annual NCAA Graduation-Rates Reports. XU was ranked first in the nation in 1998.
The one person who deserves a major part of the credit for the success of Xavier's support system for student-athletes is Fleming. Fleming took over as academic advisor for XU student-athletes in 1985. Since her arrival, Xavier has graduated every men's basketball player who has played as a senior. She's the only Team MVP ever named by former head coach Skip Prosser or his predecessor, Pete Gillen.
