11.17.00 | General
The trio was inducted into Xavier University?s Athletic Hall of Fame during a ceremony and dinner at the Cintas Center on Friday evening, November 17. These three inductees bring the ranks of XU?s Athletic Hall of Fame to 77 members.
The impressive 2000 induction class includes Lynette M. Bihn (?95), who is Xavier?s all-time rebounding leader for women?s basketball with 968 rebounds and is third on XU?s all-time scoring list with 1,607 points. Bihn earned First Team All-MCC honors once and Second Team All-MCC honors three times while helping Xavier post two straight 20-win seasons and its first-ever NCAA Tournament Berth in 1993. The Musketeers won the 1993 MCC Tournament and were the 1992 Regular Season Champions, while Bihn earned the 1994 MCC Tournament MVP award.
Sr. Rose Ann Fleming has earned a national reputation for herself and the University due to her success as the school?s academic advisor for student-athletes. Xavier University has consistently been among the top two among 13 Division I schools in Ohio and in the "Top 25"nationally in the annual NCAA Graduation-Rates Reports. XU was ranked first in the nation in 1998.
The one person who deserves a major part of the credit for the success of Xavier?s support system for student-athletes is Fleming. Fleming took over as academic advisor for XU student-athletes in 1985. Since her arrival, Xavier has graduated every men?s basketball player who has played as a senior. She?s the only Team MVP ever named by current head coach Skip Prosser or his predecessor, Pete Gillen.
Stanley R. Kimbrough (?89) currently ranks tenth on Xavier?s all-time scoring chart with 1,596 career points at Xavier. Kimbrough transferred to Xavier after playing his freshman year at Central Florida. His collegiate career point total is 2,103. Kimbrough, a two-time All-MCC selection, helped Xavier reach the NCAA Tournament in each of his three seasons at XU, including the school?s first-ever NCAA Tournament victory in 1987. Kimbrough is tied for the second most steals in a game with three other Musketeers for snatching eight as a senior in a memorable upset win over fourth-ranked Louisville in November, 1988. He also scored a career high 35 points in that game at Riverfront Coliseum.
Kimbrough received numerous awards for his play, including having been honored twice on the MCC?s All-Conference Second Team and All-Tournament Team. During his senior season, he was also Honorable Mention All-Midwest by Basketball Weekly, and Honorable Mention All-Mideast by the Basketball Times.
