CINCINNATI - Xavier University Athletics has announced the official release of new secondary logos, word and youth marks for the department. The University will also officially adjust its blue to a darker navy (PMS 289) from its former lighter version (288). Xavier's primary X logo remains unchanged.
OFFICIAL XAVIER USAGE GUIDE
The launch of the new marks was the result of a nearly year- long review and design process. Xavier worked with Joe Bosack Graphic Design Company. Other Bosack clients include the Colorado Avalanche, the Southeastern Conference, Akron Zips, Mississippi State and the ACC.
The new marks will be used widely on new uniforms, advertising, marketing and collateral materials. Xavier's new licensing partner, Licensing Resource Group (LRG), was also involved in the process. Xavier will give out a t-shirt featuring one of its new secondary word marks to the first 250 fans in attendance at the Men's Soccer home opener versus Cincinnati on Friday, August 29.
Xavier's last major change of official athletics marks was completed in 1996, which was when the University began using its current primary X logo.
Select clothing and merchandise will be available later this month for purchase in the Xavier University bookstore located in the Gallagher Student Center and online at goxavier.com.
Recently, the basketball floor in Cintas Center received a makeover to include the new word mark. The floor, new in 2000 with the opening of Cintas Center, will take on a more traditional hardwood look for the 2008-09 men's and women's basketball seasons. Xavier volleyball will be the first team to use the redesigned floor for competition when they host Western Kentucky on September 9. The floor will feature the primary X logo at center court, the word mark along both baselines, and will include navy blue trim around the edges of the court. The lanes are also outlined in navy blue, but will not be shaded entirely in navy as done previously. Noticeably, the court will include two three-point circles as necessitated by the NCAA moving the men's line to 20'9". Click here for an image of the new paint scheme.
All media outlets and vendors that use Xavier Athletics logos for reproduction may request copy of the new logos for use by contacting the Sports Information Department.
