Women's Swimming Starts Season With Win Over Marshall

CINCINNATI -- The Xavier women's swimming team dove into the 2010-2011 season Saturday with a win over Marshall at the O'Connor Sports Center. The Musketeer women earned 122 points to the Thundering Herd's 77 on the day.
A XU swimmer took first in all but four of Saturday's events with Courtney Cox taking first in her first ever collegiate 500 yard freestyle event.
Senior Keri Peglar took first place in two solo events winning the 200 freestyle with an finals time of 1:56.42 and the 100 yard backstroke with a finals time of 1:00.57.
Grace Raynor earned first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55.41 and Courtney Sheilds took first in the 50 yard freestyle with a finals time of 25.38.
The XU women will join the Musketeer men for a meet at Cincinnati on Friday, October 22 at 4 p.m.
