The women's team finished 16th (out of 32) in the 6K race while the men's squad placed 24th (out of 30) in the 10K race.
Freshman Madeline Britton led the women's team, crossing the finish line in a time of 21:54 to place 88th in the 219 participate race. Senior Audrey Ramos and sophomore Delainey Burnett took 94th and 95th place in a time of 22:00.
Junior Caterina Karas (105th) and freshman Allison Sinning (115th) finished out the scoring for the women's team in times of 22:16 and 22:27, respectively.
"Despite the team place not being where we'd like it to be, the women had an impressive day," said head coach Ryan Orner. "I was happy with their 1-5 split of 33 seconds but most of all, the number of personal best times they achieved. Six out of the seven girls ran personal best marks on the day that it matters most."
Sophomore Aaron Peterson paced the men's team, crossing the finish line in a time of 32:23 to take 114th in a field of 207 runners. Freshman Garrett Knapik ran a time of 32:26 to place 117th followed by senior Connor Buchholz who finished 123rd in a time of 32:30.
The men's scoring was rounded out by sophomores Avery Campbell (146th) and Grant Parrelli (158th). Campbell finished the race in a time of 32:54 while Parrelli posted a time of 33:13.
"I was happy with the way the men's race went, and based on their improvements from last year, I think today was their best race of the season," said Orner. "Our team goal coming in was to improve over last year both in the team place and their individual times. The guys accomplished both of those goals.
"Last year we didn't put a single guy under 33:00 for 10k and this year we managed to have four guys break the 33:00 mark. Aaron Peterson had a 1:47 improvement over last year and Connor Buchholz had a 1:02 improvement. Four out of the other seven guys had never raced a 10k before but still managed to run solid times."
