
Day Two Complete for Xavier Swimming At Magnus Invitational

CINCINNATI - After day two of competition at Cleveland State, the Xavier men's and women's swim teams maintained the positions they earned during day one at the CSU Magnus Invitational. The women's team remains in third place of nine teams while the men's team is in second place.
The women's team still sits behind Duquesne and Akron with 595 points. Freshman Paxtyn Drew earned the highest finish of the day for the Musketeers, taking second place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 56.38. Drew also set a new personal mark during preliminary heats, setting a time of 56.31, second fastest in Xavier Swim history.
Junior Molly Kroeger collected a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.53. Sophomore Emily Wagner also performed well in the event, earning a top-10 finish and a time of 1:55.77 during prelims to set the 13th fastest time in Xavier records.
In the 100 yard breaststroke senior Maddie Day, who excelled during day one for the Musketeers, continued to perform well, finishing with a time of 1:05.38 in prelims, the third fastest time in Musketeer history, upping her previous fastest time from fifth.
The Musketeers also set new personal bests in the 100 yard butterfly, where sophomore Ashley Whiteley used a time of 57.33 in prelims to set the fourth fastest time in Xavier records, up from her previous spot of eighth.
The women's relays also made its mark on Xavier's record book, setting the fourth fastest time in Musketeer history in the 200 medley relay (1:44.32).
The Xavier men held on to its second place spot, scoring 918 to sit behind only host team Cleveland State.
For the men, junior Nick Foster collected one of two individual top-three finishes in the 400 individual medley, taking third with a time of 4:02.91.
Senior Eric Dirvin also took third in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.01. Freshman Alex Wolfred put his name in the Xavier record for the event as well, coming in 18th in Xavier history with a time of 1:43.56.
Sophomore Matt Nephew upped his standing Musketeer history in the 100 yard backstroke, moving from 14th to 13th with a time of 52.58. Sophomore Tony Miller also moved up in the record in the 100 yard butterfly, moving from tied-for-17th to 14th with a 51.77 time in prelims. Robert Snader entered the top 20 for his time in the 100 yard breast, 59.38, 14th best in Xavier records.
The men's relays also collected a top-three finish, taking third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.01.
