CINCINNATI- Last week Xavier student-athletes and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) organized an Easter egg hunt and day of activities for their adopted elementary school, The Academy of World Languages, a Title I elementary school in O’Bryonville.
The Easter egg hunt and activities were inspired by Xavier’s involvement in the Adopt A Class program. Xavier student-athletes have adopted several classrooms at the Academy of World Languages. They conduct a pen pal program and serve as mentors, role models and tutors for the students throughout the academic year.
Haley Dresner, a member of the women’s swim team, commented on the day. “It was a great experience to give these children an Easter egg hunt. I had so much fun with them. It was neat to see the type of positive impact we [student-athletes] can have by giving the children our time and energy.”
