Meet Resumes Tomorrow at 10 AM
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – With one session of the Big 12 vs. BIG EAST Weekend at West Virginia University in the books, the Xavier swim team has collected a number of top finishes and new personal bests through six swimming events on each side. Twelve swimming events remain in the competition for the men and women.
On the women's side, the Musketeers opened Friday night's session with third and fourth place finishes in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Caroline Gaertner, Becca Titterton, Annie Cummins and Laura Dicus posting a time of 1:51.04 to narrowly edge the Xavier 'A' team's time of 1:51.43.
Mackenna Rife led the Musketeers into the wall in the 400 IM, taking third with a time of 4:43.09. In the 200 free, Katie Kerr finished second and improved her standing Xavier's all-time records to 14th with a time of 1:55.85.
The women closed the event with the 400 free relay 'A' team of Molly Kroeger, Claire Brolsma, Taylor Jach and Paxtyn Drew taking second with a time of 3:37.16
For the men, Xavier opened Friday night by taking third in the 200 medley relay with the 'A' team of Erik Biernat, Michael Pettinichi, Tony Miller and Luke Johanns posting a time of 1:36.38.
Chase Baldwin improved to 18th in the Xavier all-time records in the 400 IM with a time of 4:13.49, taking fifth place. Rodrigo Suriano led the Musketeers into the wall in the 200 back with a time of 1:57.47.
The men capped off the night with a win, taking first in the 400 free relay after Luke Johanns, Enrique Hernandez, Matt Nephew and Rodrigo Suriano posting a time of 3:08.38.
