Men's Basketball Cracks Top 10 in National Polls

Musketeers in AP Top 10 for fourth time since 2008
CINCINNATI – The Xavier Musketeers, 10-0, have moved up to No. 10 in both the Associated Press Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll. In addition, XU is No. 10 in the CBSSports.com Poll and No. 7 in the NBCSports.com Poll. This marks the fourth season Xavier has earned a spot in the AP Top 10 since 2008.

Xavier is coming off a 65-55 win over then-No. 23 Cincinnati on Saturday and is already off to its best start under seventh-year head coach Chris Mack. The 10-0 start equals the school-record start by the 1996-97 squad under the late Skip Prosser. Xavier's 10-game winning streak is its longest since an 11-game win streak in the 2008-09 season.

Xavier is one of four BIG EAST Conference teams in this week's AP Top 25, including Xavier (10), Villanova (12), Providence (14) and Butler (17). Xavier is also one of four BIG EAST Conference teams in this week's USA Today Coaches Poll, including Xavier (10), Villanova (13), Providence (14) and Butler (18). Georgetown is among the other teams receiving votes in the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll.

Xavier's first two BIG EAST games are at No. 12 Villanova on Dec. 31 and vs. No. 17 Butler on Jan. 2 at Cintas Center.

Xavier's final two non-conference games are vs. Auburn on Saturday, Dec. 19 at Cintas Center and next Tuesday, Dec. 22 at Wake Forest for the Skip Prosser Classic.
