Men's Golf Finishes Third At The BIG EAST Championship

Callawassie Island, S.C. - The Xavier University men's golf team shot a final round 307 (+19) today and finished third at the BIG EAST Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Callawassie Island Golf Club. Xavier's three-round total of 906 (+42) finished nine shots behind 2015 champion Marquette (+33 at 897) and seven shots behind second-place DePaul (+35 at 899).

Xavier had two players finish in the top 10. Xavier's top finisher was senior Tanapol Vattanapisit, who shot a two-over-par 74 today and finished with a three-round total of 220 (+4), which was good for sixth place. Freshman Jose Montaño shot a five-over-par 77 to finish at 221 (+5), which earned him seventh place.

Senior Korey Ward shot an even par 72 today and finished at 227 (+11), which was just outside the top 10 at number 11. Freshman Tripp French finished tied for 34th at 238 (+22), while sophomore Matt Wetterich finished 41st at 250 (+34).
