Local Health Foundation Sponsors Men’s Basketball Game Vs. Butler; Engages Area Kids in Month-Long Health Challenge
CINCINNATI - Interact for Health, a regional foundation that is focused on building healthy communities, is partnering with Xavier Athletics to fuel people in our community to make healthier choices. Together, along with the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, Interact and Xavier are engaging area children in a month-long health challenge.
Interact for Health is also sponsoring the Xavier University Men's Basketball "Health and Wellness Game" vs. Butler on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
Teaching children healthy habits during elementary school greatly increases the odds they will become healthy adults. This February, Interact and the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati are partnering with Xavier University Athletics for a unique approach to engage kids in healthy activities. More than 2,000 area children in 80 YMCA after-school programs are participating in the Healthy X-Factor Challenge.
During the challenge, kids are completing a series of activities focused on healthy living, active living and mental wellness. Those who complete the challenge will receive a prize pack and a chance to attend a VIP Basketball Camp with Xavier University Men's Basketball Chris Mack this summer. Coach Mack also hosts a video component for the X-Factor Challenge.
Interact for Health is also sponsoring the Xavier men's basketball team 2017 "Health and Wellness" game. During the game against Butler, Interact for Health will host several dozen kids and mentors from Cincinnati's Saturday Hoops Program, a program of the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative focused on building positive role modeling through a variety of activities. Their visit to the Xavier campus will also include a full tour of the school and programs they offer. Interact for Health is also distributing 1,000 basketballs to fans attending the game.
Interact for Health is focused on building healthy communities for all people. We serve as a catalyst for health and wellness by promoting healthy living through grants, education, research, policy, and engagement. Interact for Health is an independent foundation that serves 20 counties in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. More information can be found at www.interactforhealth.org
