Fitzpatrick Leads Musketeers on Day Two at BIG EAST

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – The Xavier women's golf team finished the second round of the BIG EAST Championship this afternoon. A couple of Musketeers are in good position to make a run on the final day tomorrow.
"Big holes hurt us today," said head coach Breanna Patz. "We had a few players that put together solid rounds, but struggled on a hole which kept them from posting a lower score. I know we are capable of a round lower than 316, and I hope we show everyone that tomorrow!"
Mikayla Fitzpatrick had the best round of the day for Xavier. The freshman shot a second round 76 (+4) thanks to a strong back nine with four birdies.
Grace Howie leads the team in pars with 22, while Lindsey Murray leads with five birdies.
Mikayla Smith continues her strong play on the par 5's, going two under for the tournament.
13. Smith: 77, 78 [155, +11]
t-15. Fitzpatrick: 81, 76 [157, +13]
t-18. Howie: 78, 80 [158, +14]

The Musketeers are in fifth place after a second round score of 316 (+28), six strokes off of fourth place Seton Hall.
