Women's Golf Wraps-Up Day One at MAC Fall Preview in Second-Place

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - Xavier women's golf broke three team records on day one at the MAC Fall Preview on Sunday, wrapping up the evening in second place.
The Musketeers broke both 18-hole scoring records, low score and versus par, when they carded a 283 (-5) this evening. The previous low 18-hole score was set by this team last weekend at the Princess Anne Invitational with a score of 285. The team also broke the versus par 18-hole scoring record with their 5-under performance, the previous record was set by the 13-14 team at Oak Creek CC in the Red Rocks Invitational at 289 (+1).
The women a broke the 36-hole scoring record as well with their score of 575 (-1). It was previously held by the 2005 team in the Great Smokies Collegiate at Waynesville CC where the Musketeers carded a 584 (+8).
The team currently leads in multiple categories, including par 3 scoring at 2.95 (-2), par 4 scoring at 4.08 (+8), and total birdies with 32. They are also second in total pars with 116 after the first two rounds.
The Musketeers have five golfers in the top-10 after the conclusion of round two: Mikayla Fitzpatrick (2nd), Mikayla Smith (T3), Lyndsey Hunnel (T3), Andie Shukow (T10), and Ke'Asha Phillips (T10).
Fitzpatrick carded a 141 (-3) on her way to placing second overall after day one. She shot even par (72) in the first round and then improved with a 69 (-3) in round two, tying her career low. Fitzpatrick now has eight total rounds at par or better on the season, surpassing her total of six from last season.
With her two rounds today, Fitzpatrick now holds the record for most rounds at par or better in a season. The record was previously held by Ariel McNair with seven rounds in 2013-14. Fitzpatrick also leads multiple categories through the first two rounds. She is tied for first in total birdies with nine and leads par 4 scoring at 3.85 (-3).
Smith and Hunnell both finished the first day in a tie for third overall with scores of 144 (E). Smith is tied for fourth in par 3 scoring at 2.75 (-2), tied for third in par 5 scoring at 4.75 (-2), and tied for first in total birdies with nine. Hunnell is tied for first in Par 5 scoring at 4.63 (-3) and tied for third in total pars with 26.
Shukow carded a 146 (+2) through the first two rounds after she shot even par in round two. She is first in total pars with 28 and tied for fourth in Par 3 scoring at 2.75 (-2).
Morgan Tinsley completed the first two rounds in a tie for 33rd overall, she carded a 152 (+8). Tinsley has 20 pars and six birdies through day one.
Xavier has four golfers participating as individuals, Abby Kiefer, Kayla Benge, and Amy Kucera, and Phillips.
Phillips is tied for tenth overall after she carded a 146 (+2) in the first two rounds. She is tied for ninth in Par 4 scoring and tied for sixth in par 5 scoring. Kiefer carded a 154 (+10), Benge shot a 155 (+11), and Kucera shot a 161 (+17) in her first tournament action of the season.
