Men's Golf Completes Day One at Pinehurst in 11th

PINEHURST, N.C. – Xavier men's golf finished day one on the links at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate this afternoon in 11th position with a 315 (+31) scorecard. Garrett Wood led Xavier in the opening round, finishing tied for 18th.

Wood led Xavier with four birdies, three of the which came back-to-back-to-back on the front nine. The first birdie came on the fifth hole, which was a 149-yard par 3. The freshman earned his fourth birdie of the day on the par 5 No. 11 hole.

Wood finished the day 75 (+4). He tied for second in the par 3 category with a 2.75 average, -1 score. In the par 5 category, Wood leads the competition with a 4.33 average, -2 score.

Eduardo Rivera finished tied for 30th with a score of 77 (+6). Martin Jaramillo finished the first round 79 (+8), tying for 47th place. Jaramillo led Xavier in pars, earning 12.

Daniel Jaramillo and Hunter Roberts came into the clubhouse in a tie for 69th with scores of 84 (+13).

The Musketeers finished day one in 11th place. Ball State leads the competition at 13 above par.
