Mikayla Fitzpatrick Named All-BIG EAST for Second-Straight Season

NEW YORK – Women's golf sophomore Mikayla Fitzpatrick was honored by the BIG EAST Conference, earning a spot on the seven-person All-BIG EAST Team for women's golf for a second-straight season, the conference office announced on Friday.
The sophomore led the Musketeers with a scoring average of 75.59, shooting just 3.59 over par through 29 rounds. Her scoring average for the season ranked third among BIG EAST competitors.
In 10 tournament appearances, Fitzpatrick picked up five top-eight finishes, including a second-place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate where she set a new school record for 54 holes. Her tournament total of 214 (-2) topped a seven-year-old record held by Audrey Fellmeth, who shot 215 (-1) at the 2010 Badger Invitational.
Fitzpatrick shot six rounds at par or better, including shooting a three-under 69 in the first round at the UNF Collegiate in March, which was a season-low round for the Musketeers and tied for the second-lowest round among BIG EAST competitors this season.
At the 2018 BIG EAST Championships, the Phoenix native finished the tournament tied for 12th. Fitzpatrick finished the competition with the second-best par-5 average, going even on par-5's for the event. The sophomore was also among the tournament leaders with 32 pars.
After her rookie campaign in 2016-17, Fitzpatrick was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. She was also named to the BIG EAST First Team as a freshman, becoming the first Xavier golfer to do so since 2013. In 2016-17, she averaged 76.48 strokes per round through 29 rounds, breaking the Xavier record for stroke average for a freshman.
