Brian Hicks, Associate Athletics Director for External Relations, named NACMA President
Xavier Athletics received a number of accolades at the 2018 National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) convention held this past week in Washington, DC. In addition, Brian Hicks, Xavier Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, was installed as President of the NACMA Board of Directors.
Xavier University was one of nine institutions recognized as part of the NACMA Marketing Team of the Year award. Finalists for the award included Auburn University, Purdue University and University of South Carolina. Xavier earned an honorable mention.
In its sixth year, the nominations for the Marketing Team of the Year spanned across FBS, FCS, Division I-AAA, and Division II institutions. The award was created to show the type of impact that a marketing team has, not only on the athletics department, but the campus and surrounding communities as well.
Xavier was also awarded two bronze medal awards at the "Best Of" Awards ceremony for the 2017-18 academic year, capturing honors in the category for Fan Giveaway Promotion and Intro Video. The fan giveaway promotion was awarded for the "Bloby Bloby" student t-shirt giveaway at a women's basketball game this past winter, modeled after the popular "Dilly Dilly" theme. The men's basketball alternate white intro video was shown at select men's basketball games this past season and was produced by 4th Floor Creative. Watch the video here.
Initiated in 2003, the NACMA Best Of Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 14 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. Xavier competes in Group 2 which is made up primarily of NCAA Division I schools that do not compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Hicks is entering his 15th year at Xavier, and has served on the NACMA Board of Directors since 2011, most recently serving as 1st Vice President during the 2017-18 academic year. His appointment as president runs through June 2019.
NACMA provides the tools, training and network for collegiate sports marketers to successfully generate revenue, manage brands and develop fans.
