The junior runner earns the honors for the second time this season
NEW YORK - Junior Anna Kostarellis was named the BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. The cross country runner earns the honors for the second time this season.
Kostarellis won her second meet of the season on Saturday, Oct. 5, taking the individual title at the Louisville Classic at E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park. She helped the women place third (out of 39 teams) at the meet.
The Churchville, N.Y., native, posted a school-record time of 16:43.10 in the 5K race, breaking her previous school record set on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Queen City Invitational. She placed first in a field of 342 runners.
Kostarellis was also named BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week on Sept. 4.
Kostarellis and the Musketeers return to action at Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
