Men's Golf Finishes Sixth as Rath and Qureshi Tie for 20th at Mountaineer Invitational

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Xavier men's Golf concluded the final round of the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational late Tuesday afternoon with a third round score of 293 (+5).

The Musketeers, as a team, ranked third in par-5 scoring at 4.97 (-2) and second in total birdies with 42.

Imaad Qureshi and Trey Rath finished the tournament tied for 20th overall. Rath carded an even-par final round, his second round at par-or-better in as many tournaments. He carded 30 pars and nine birdies, he also shot even-par on par-5s through the outing. Qureshi Shot 1-over and led XU in par-5 scoring and total birdies over the tournament. His par-5 scoring of 4.75 (-2) was tied for fourth and his 11 birdies were tied for fifth in the tournament.

Ben Pirro ended the two-day outing tied for 31st. Pirro recorded 28 pars and nine birdies over the 54-hole outing.

Nick Frey finished tied for 49th with a total of 233 while Brian Jennings carded his first career round at par-or-better in second tournament for XU. Jennings finished tied for 51st individually but came back with a strong thrid round. He carded 30 pars and five birdies over the tournament.

Xavier ended the Mountaineer Invitational in sixth place, its highest finish of the season so far. The 54-hole total for the Musketeers was 900 (+36).

West Virginia won its home tournament with a total of 864 (E).

NEXT UP

Xavier will be hosting its final tournament of the fall. The Musketeer Classic will take place at Maketewah Country Club on October 21-22.
