Xavier Student-Athletes Participate in Adopt-A-Family Program

CINCINNATI - For the fifth straight year, Xavier's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) partnered with the St. Vincent DePaul "Adopt-A-Family" program to bring some holiday cheer to local families.
The SAAC led initiative was able to gather $1,130 in donations representing 100 percent participation this year with a donation coming from at least one person on each XU team.

"I am extremely proud of Xavier student-athletes as a whole for raising this money and being able to help those who are less fortunate," said Ashley Gomez, SAAC President and women's basketball student-athlete.
"I am especially proud of our SAAC reps for leading this initiative and collecting the money from their teams, taking time to go and purchase the items, and wrapping them to be delivered. The leadership to participate and organize community service initiatives from our SAAC reps has been overwhelmingly great this year, and I know that the community serving leadership skills we are learning will stay with us for whatever our futures will hold."

With the money, Xavier student-athletes were able to purchase every item on the wish-list of two different families totaling six kids.
