Chris Givin and Mikayla Fitzpatrick Named BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athletes for 2018-19

NEW YORK - Xavier baseball's Chris Givin and Xavier women's golf's Mikayla Fitzpatrick were named Xavier's BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the 2018-19 academic year.
Each BIG EAST member institution has a male and female winner, with each winner receiving $2,000 toward graduate studies.
Mikayla Fitzpatrick is a junior on Xavier's women's golf team and became the first Xavier player to advance to the NCAA Championships in program history. Fitzpatrick led the Musketeers to the BIG EAST Championships earlier this month - the program's first conference title - to earn the team's first NCAA Championship berth. Fitzpatrick was also named BIG EAST Golfer of the Year after claiming the individual title at the conference championships. Fitzpatrick is studying for her MBA after completing her degree in Business Analytics and has earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team following each of her two previous seasons at Xavier.
Chris Givin is a senior shortstop for the Musketeers, collecting 58 hits so far on the season with a .289 batting average, both stand as the second-best marks on the team. Givin has 18 hits for extra bases, including 10 doubles, four triples and four home runs. Givin also has a .995 fielding percentage at shortstop so far this season. Givin is a Marketing major who's been selected to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team following each of his three previous seasons at Xavier.
