Men's Swimming Claim Third BIG EAST Title; Women Finish Third

Andrew Martin named Most Outstanding Swimmer
On the final day, Xavier's women picked up two third place finishes in Championship finals, finishing with 10 top-three finishes for the meet. Kali Fischer collected her third bronze of the meet, in the 200 back and Taylor Hogan placed third in the 200 fly, her second individual bronze. Xavier also collected three consolation finals wins for Emma Swabb (200 back), Clara Keiser (100 free), and Julianne Libler (200 breast).
Xavier closed out the meet with a third place finish in the 400 free relay for Clara Keiser, Erin Merke, Maureen Cummins and Kali Fischer. With 18 finals swims on the last night, Xavier collected 535 points total, finishing in third place behind Villanova and UConn.
Xavier's men collected three more individual event championships and another relay title, extending the lead over second-place Villanova. Andrew Martin repeated as BIG EAST champion in the 1,650 free, winning his third gold of the meet. Alex Sironen won his first individual gold, taking first in the 200 back, and Christian Thomas set a new school record on his way to his third event win of 2021, taking the 100 free in 44.38.
The Musketeers closed out the meet with a school-record performance in the 400 free relay, collecting the 11th event title of the meet. Xavier used 18 finals swims, including 14 in Championship finals, bring their total to 862.5 points, leading second place Villanova by 177, on the way to a third-straight BIG EAST title and sixth overall.
Xavier's men won 11 of 18 racing events, including three individual wins each for Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas. Martin was named Most Outstanding Swimmer following the meet,

WOMEN'S NOTABLE |
- Emma Kauffeld's time of 17:15.24 placed seventh in the time final while Erin Ritz scored in 10th place.
- Kali Fischer picked up a bronze medal in the 200 back, while Emma Swabb took the top spot in the consolation final. Brooke Atkins also took part in the B-Final.
- Clara Keiser took the top spot in the consolation final of the 100 free. Erin Merke and Maureen Cummins also took part in the B-Final.
- Kelly Harris placed sixth in the Championship final of the 200 breast. Julianne Libler took the top spot in the B-Final, while Kate Lair, Alison Herman and Lydia Schaeffer took part in the consolation final as well.
- Taylor Hogan picked up a bronze medal in the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.55. Anna Baker and Emma Jury placed second and third in the B-Final and Sophia Romero and Lorelei Gaertner took part in the B-Final as well.
- Xavier's women closed out the meet with a bronze medal in the 400 free relay for Clara Keiser, Erin Merke, Maureen Cummins and Kali Fischer.
- Xavier collected 535 points over the four-day meet, finishing third behind Villanova and UConn.

MEN'S NOTABLE |
- Andrew Martin repeated as BIG EAST champion in the mile, the seventh time the Musketeers have claimed a conference title in the event. Brett Wilson picked up the bronze and Daniel Stroh placed fifth in the timed final.
- Alex Sironen took first in the 100 back with a time of 1:47.17, Xavier's fourth BIG EAST Championship in the event. Ben Quon took third and Nick Mahoney tied for fourth. In the B-Final, Andrew Devine took the top spot.
- Christian Thomas set a new school record of 44.38 on the way to winning the 100 free championship, Xavier's fourth since joining the BIG EAST. Ethan Wing placed fourth and Jared Ritz finished fifth. Noah Coomler took part in the B-Final.
- Cameron Weese picked up a bronze medal in the 200 breast to lead the Musketeers. Jon Bernard finished fourth and Will Serad finished sixth in the Championship final. Davis Klein took the top spot in the consolation final.
- Jack Parker and Brett Wilson took part in the Championship final of the 200 fly, finishing sixth and eighth respectively. Joey Mullen posted the top time by a Musketeer, 1:50.25, to win the B-Final. Bradley Jackson took part in the consolation final as an exhibition as well.
- Xavier closed out the meet with a school-record time of 2:57.96 in the 400 free relay for Christian Thomas, Ethan Wing, Alex Sironen and Andrew Martin to take the gold medal, their 11th race win of the meet.
- Xavier collected 862.5 points to top second place Villanova by 177 points.
