Facility will be attached to Cintas Center and include a second practice gym.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University Athletics celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking today on the Klekamp Family Training Center, which will be connected to and built off the back of Cintas Center. The $10 million project is slated for completion in the Summer of 2022.
Â
"This will be a major upgrade for the three teams that call Cintas Center home," said Xavier Vice President and Director of Athletics Greg Christopher. "Our basketball and volleyball teams train here all year long and this will allow our coaches and student-athletes to maximize their opportunities."
Â
The Klekamp Family Training Center, which includes a second practice gym, will add to the already-existing court space available in the Cintas Center - the Kohlhepp Family Auxiliary Gym and the Cintas Center main arena.
Â
"The Klekamp Family Training Center gives our program access to facilities that rival the top programs in the country," said Sedler Family Men's Head Basketball Coach Travis Steele. "It gives us an elite facility to ensure additional space for individual and team workouts as well as space for our student-athletes to put in independent work on their own time."
Â
"The Klekamp Family Training Center allows us to maximize our workout opportunities year round," said Women's Basketball Head Coach Melanie Moore. "We will have much more flexibility to schedule individual and team workouts around the academic commitments of our student-athletes. The on-court time availability is critical to the future success of our program."
Â
"I am excited about the addition of the Klekamp Family Training Center," said Head Volleyball Coach Christy Pfeffenberger. "It opens up a lot of flexibility with workout schedules. For one thing, the time we spend with the transition between volleyball and basketball practice setups can now be spent on workouts and instruction. This will elevate our program all year long."
